The majority of respondents in a Hiring Bounty job survey cited a referral as being the most effective method of finding a job. 25% still relied on traditional print advertisements, closely followed by online job portals. As many as one in 10 applicants have found their current position through social media, with the preferred method being a vacancy advertised by a company on its Facebook page.
40% of respondents considered it important to be active on social media in case potential employers might seek them out online. 35% admitted that their social media activity/presence had assisted them in finding a job in the past, compared to just 2% who have been prevented from securing a job as a result of their online activity.
