80% of the black middle class say that they are better off than five years ago vs 57% of white respondents to the latest UCT/Unilever research study ‘4 Million Rising’. Ambition is a key driver of success and achievement for the black middle class.
32% are professionals and 51% of the 4.2 billion-strong black middle class say they are in managerial positions. 88% are salaried employees vs 71% of whites. However, 29% of the black middle class say they also have secondary incomes and 75% would like to start their own business. 13% already have their own business.
