Modernity has long been synonymous with progress, but Havas Worldwide found in a recent study that people are worried about progress and 60% of the global sample surveyed believe we are heading in the wrong direction, believing that the majority have grown intellectually and physically lazy. 52% worry that globalisation is wiping out unique cultures and 69% worry that despite our technologically adept society, we have grown disconnected from the natural world. Two thirds are concerned about the modern world’s loss of authenticity and the rise of artificiality.
