Interim findings in the Brand Council of SA (BCSA) Brand Barometer survey, shows that 93% of agency suppliers agree that marketing isn’t taken seriously at the boardroom table, while 61% of brand owners feel the same way. And 61% of agency suppliers and 40% of brand owners don’t think that the quality of SA marketers entering the profession is at an acceptable level. It was also revealed that 97% of brand owners and 88% of suppliers agree that marketing has an important role to play in the economic development of the country. This points directly to the need to improve the purposeful development of the marketing profession to facilitate better engagement with the wider business community, government and society, says BCSA.
